A Brief History

In the year 1517 the first Spanish galleons set out from Cuba and sailed the coast of the Yucatan peninsula, exploring the area. The conquistadors came to Cozumel in 1518. There are no records of previous visits by any European explorers. It was then, for the first time in Mexico, that European blood was mixed with the Mayan blood of this area, creating a new race: The MESTIZOS. A new nation had begun: The MEXICAN NATION.

Our operation's name pays homage to that very fact—we are a nation of MESTIZOS. The profile that is our logo is also a symbol. Even though Mayan blood is no longer pure, Mayan features remain dominant. The Mayan profile is still common today among the inhabitants of southeastern Mexico.

MESTIZO is our blood now, and MESTIZO is our name.

In the past, when the conquistadors came, they needed the guidance of the locals to penetrate and understand this territory. YOU, AS WELL, will be guided and tended to by locals. We grew up here and we know the history and the secrets of this waters and this jungle.
